What we actually do
We keep the books for shops that live in field software. We set payroll up with a provider the owner runs, and we do not run the payments ourselves. We reconcile. We prepare the statements and the reports. We prepare the return. Before December closes we walk the choices that can still be made.
Attest work is the exception, and the disclosures page draws it in full. Signed work of the kind a lender calls an audit or a review or a compilation is handed to a firm that can sign it.
Two systems that feel close, and a match we insist on
Two screens side by side can feel like the same file. The trip between them is short. The wink is the account list. Two systems can sit that close and still fail, if one calls an account by a name the other does not use.
Identical names are the condition for a touchless export. We line the names up at the start. We do not rename an account in one system on a Tuesday and forget the other. A clean counter at the end of the day is a pleasant sight, and the shop earned it. The file does not get to be pleasant until every row has a name both sides share. When a state taxes one kind of visit and not another, that rule is on the state page.
How a month with us feels
The past is the list that posted wrong, cleaned until the bank agrees. The present is the open month, kept current, not declared finished while a payment is still homeless. The future is the return, sized while there is still time to change a classification or a deposit.
